Potential Phytoremediation of Aquatic Macrophyte Species for Heavy Metals in Urban Environments in the Southern Area of Brazil

This research investigated four different species of aquatic macrophytes with natural occurrence in an urban environment highly anthropized Southern Brazil. The aim the was to compare phytoremediation potential among E. anagallis, H. grumosa, ranunculoides, and S. montevidensis through Pearson´s correlation analysis cluster analysis, using heavy metal content identified HNO3 - HClO4 indexes. results highlighted bioconcentration factor (BCF) outstanding for Cu BCF = 667.09, Zn 149.93, Cd 26.85, Cr 31.77, Ni 35.47, Pb BCF= 126.29. Additionally, grumosa were also highlighted, considering phytoremoval (g ha−1). Therefore, this study demonstrates tolerance removal metals Cu, Cr, Cd, Pb, Ni, by evaluated macrophyte elucidates application purposes.
